Dear members,

1.            The Committee have agreed to tender out the different roles required by the Marina, mainly Administration, Security, Cleaning and Marina/Yard operations. These tenders will come out shortly and although the different tenders may be given out to the same tenderer, they will be different contracts

2.            At the same time the Association is employing directly a Pier Master whose role it will be to run the Marina and the Yard. This postholder will be the link between the Committee and the Contractors and will be the person responsible to action the different requirements of the Marina/Yard. At present there is no one person doing this and consequently, there is no liaison between the different roles with many different actions remaining undone.

3.            We continue to finalise the different issues with the Yard:

a)            Perimeter wall is almost finished…. another week perhaps.

b)            Camera systems: cabling now finished, and cameras should be up and working shortly.

c)            Crane has been commissioned AGAIN and we will be getting an engineering report on the block that has moved which does not seem to be in any way load bearing but rather aesthetic.

d)            Nissen Hut Engineering report will shortly be finalised and works costed. Please note however, that this in no way will stop the workings of the Yard.

It is expected that the Yard will be ready for trial in early September.

One final thing. We have seen over the last few weeks, an increase of persons jumping over the gates. The committee would like to advise that anyone, irrespective of age, membership status or nationality, who attempts to climb over the boundary fence, into or out of the marina, will be immediately reported to the Royal Gibraltar Police for prosecution for the offences of unlawful trespass and/or criminal damage. Anyone caught scaling the boundary fence who is a relative of a berth-holder at the marina also risks having that berth-holder put before a disciplinary committee with a view to having his or her membership revoked, thereby losing their berth indefinitely. It is about time that this type of behaviour, and in fact any types of disruptive behaviour which stop members fully enjoying the great facility that we have, will no longer be tolerated under any circumstances.
