Good Afternoon,

Communication to update the members on the ongoing situation in the new contractors and their start dates. The Committee took a decision on the way forward with the contractors and unanimously decided on the following;

 1. The Security contract would be given to OSG Services who was the most competitive tender and which produced a new system of Security similar to one being applied by the existing contractor.  There will be external monitoring of the Cameras and patrols during the day and night. There will also be the added monitoring of Yard Cameras and extra patrols in the yard.  This will be explained in a future communication where in the new system will be explained. They will start on 1st October 2024.

2. Cleaning services have been awarded to ABC Services produce a very competitive and well worked out cleaning system. This will now include the cleaning of the yard offices and the toilets there. They will start on 1st October 2024.

3. The Operative contract, which includes the crane driver and forklift operator for the Yard, was awarded to Total Yacht Services Limited. They will be providing an operative a full-time operative working in the marina under the hospices of the new Pier Master and will also provide a full-time operative with crane and forklift duties at the yard. This will be complimented with an assistant operative who will be backing up the yard mainly but will also be supporting the marina maintenance as necessary. Once again this was very competitive with the necessary experience in relation to boats. They will start on 16th September 2024 in order to precipitate the Yard operations.

4. The Administrative Tender was awarded to JT services but unfortunately this was turned down and has to be taken back to the committee so that the second preferred tenderer is approved. It is expected that this will happen by early September when the committee meet and confirm this. It is a pity since the idea of maintaining JT Security was a result of trying to keep the continuity of the administration to continue to have the face of Victor within the marina. In any case, Victor has already been removed by JT and a person who substituting him will be there until the new operator takes over. They will start as soon as possible in order to take over the administration function and ensure that there are no hiccups in this important function.

These contractors will all have a one-year contract in order for the Committee is to ensure their efficiency. These contractors are to be monitored by the PierMaster who will have overall control of the Marina and Yard going forward on behalf of the committee. The PierMaster will start on the 9th September 2024 and will use that week to prepare all the schedules for the incoming contractors.

A full breakdown of overall costs will be provided shortly and these will show the savings that this Committee is applying even taking into account the new Yard cost.

On a totally different issue, I have noticed that some members have asked questions of the Committee on the Whats-app group. Please note that the Marina operates a Web Page on https://marina.gi which has a contact field which is monitored by the Committee and questions can be posted there and will be answered officially by the Secretary of the Committee.
