BROUGHT FORWARD FROM PREVIOUS MINUTES

Action Items
1. Meetings with the Miniter and CoP
2. Forklifter repairs
3. Marina Survey (Marinetek)
4. OSG Extra Security

Minutes of the last meeting of the Mar 26 were approved.

Agenda:

1. Forklift Repairs
• The secretary advised that the Forklifter would be send to the Spanish JCB operator on the 30th April 26. Once there it would have a proper diagnostic done and a price for repairing it would be estimated. Committee would need to approve the monies.

2. Meeting with the Captain and Minister for the Port
• The President advised members that they had met both Minister and the CoP under the guise of the Advisory Board on Thursday 26 March at the Minister’s Office. He stated that it had been a very quick meeting where only the changes in the law relating to the removal and sale of boats from the Marina was agreed. We await the quarterly meeting with CoP and the follow up meeting with the Minister but expected very little progress from her. Notwithstanding, the Association would continue to propose the various changes and agree once and for all the liaison with CoP. This was still non existent.

3. Marinetek
• The Captain confirmed that the spares required by Marinetek for the programme of maintenance had arrived and the programme was on the way with the Marinetek engineer on the ground. A report would be provided at the end of the visit for the continuation of the programme for the following year identifying any area still of concern. The MD would arrive in Gibraltar the following week and would meet the operational committee who would report to the Main Committee at its next meeting.

4. OSG Support for the Easter period.
• The President advised that OSG had been contracted as agreed from Maundy Thursday to Sunday 26th Committee to man the Marina during the day as per previous years. To date, no incidences had been reported as most members react to the OSG patrols. It was agreed that given the good weather expected from now on, OSG would be contracted during the day at weekends and public holidays until the full blown Summer schedule was started as was the case last year. This would normally happen when the schools finish for Summer although this would have to be manged.

5. Budget
• The President advised the Committee that given the expenditure this year due to various issues which has affected the budget, the President and the Treasurer would update the budget at the end of June. This exercise was to ensure the cash flow position and whether there would have to be any changes in this year’s financial structure.

6. PENALTY CHARGES INVOICING
• The President advised the Committee that at the beginning of the month, the members who had not paid were being charged the 2% penalty agreed at last year’s AGM. In the main this was pushing members to pay although there were still some 150 members that had not paid. On the 1st May 2026, another 2% compounded penalty charge Invoice would be issued. These members would who were now technically in arrears under the law, would be targeted with other membership advantages withdrawn. At present, they were not being allowed to use the Yard and the next advantage removed would the Marina/Yard access. The Committee asked the President to advise members accordingly through the Official What’s App group.

7. Tender Engine
• The Vice President advised the Committee that tender engine was now useless and although they had tried to repair it, spares were no longer available. He numerated the things that the Marina tender does and felt it was imperative to get a new engine particularly as we could charge for various services that the Yard offered. Yamaha had given a good price for a new engine and asked the Committee for approval to get it. The Committee agreed.

8. Yard Wintering.
• The Vice President advised the Committee that the Wintering season was soon finishing and the boats therein would be removed. He asked whether the Nissen Hut could be used for storing other things e.g. engines during the summer months. The Committee agreed that storing was possible but it had to be understood that this was from May to October only. Price structures for storing would be agreed once what was going to be stored was agreed.

9. Water Leakages
• The President advised the Committee that he had had meetings with GJBS who was the contracting entity that had laid the pipes and who had sent the pipes for testing. GJBS are now waiting for the final report and will present this to their board in June of this year. GJBS agreed that in the interim, they would repair at their cost any new leakages. The Committee felt that water was a very important facility within our Marina and urged that the system should be reviewed with a view of reassessing totally. The President state that at the same tome GJBS were doing a costing exercise to determine what would be the cost of laying the pipes externally within the Marina which was everybody’s preferred system. Once the costings were finished, they would be brought to the Committee for discussion. The Committee felt that this cost could not be passed to the Association.

10. Contractors Review
• The President felt that on a monthly basis the Committee should look at the way it does business and identify whether it would want to continue the way it does its business from a contractual back up point of view particularly those that had been needed initially but not necessarily would be needed now. The Committee had done this in January with the Focus contract. He brought the I-comms contract for IT services which cost £260 per month. As indeed happens with the Focus contract, the cost of fixing a problem once it appears far outweighs the monthly maintenance contract which covers all eventualities. As an example, he mentioned the support given by I-comms when the membership card system and printer broke down. The cost of these repairs from a manpower point of view would have cost some £300. The maintenance contract was felt to be necessary for the continuous working of the administration. A discussion ensued and members unanimously agreed to continue with the contract.

THERE BEING NO OTHER BUSINESS. THE MEETING CLOSED AT 18.30 hrs.
