I have already said that I will be keeping you all abreast with periodic updates on the various issues which affect us. It was and still is my intention to do this when I have all the information required on the Yard. I expect that this will be in early June.  We will also be advising you on the changes that the Committee is introducing about the way we run our affairs operationally in the future.

However, and given the remarks by “Peter Joe” this afternoon, let me explain that the Government only gave us £35K with us having to fund the rest. The Committee felt that the fencing was sufficient to deter people coming in and this, together with the Cameras being fitted and the eventual security of the yard, was more than enough and obviously much cheaper. I am preparing a breakdown of the costs of the yard which will be made public once all the matters are sorted. We are not cutting corners as Peter Joe suggests, but using your money in the best possible way, after all the perimeter security is to keep trespassers out and not to beautify the area. Most of the photos shown are work in progress and others are things which this committee inherited and which we are working on. The glass is not half empty but half full and we are much nearer now to finalising everything so that all our members can enjoy them.

I would ask all our members to bear with us and to keep their comments and criticism to help the new committee and not demean our efforts. If you feel that you could do it better or even try to do it better, you should ask to be co-opted to the committee. The more the merrier and all rowing in the same direction. We can do with more hands given the number of things that have to be done.
