Agenda:
1. Forklift Repairs
• The secretary advised that the Forklifter had been sent to Malaga and he was now liaising with the repairer to give us a quote for the repairs. He would keep the Committee updated.
2. Meeting with the Captain and Minister for the Port
• The President advised members that the CoP had not called the quarterly meeting although reminded on a couple of occasions. In relation to the meeting with the Minister which happened early this year, the minutes wee yet to be produced by her office and therefore could not be followed up.
3. Marinetek
• The Captain confirmed that the programme of maintenance had gone according to plan except for the Marina guide rollers which required new spares. This could be done locally but the Committee required some estimate of costs to identify whether this should be done now or left for 2027. The maintenance programme for 2027 with costings, was also requested from MarineTek.
4. OSG Support for the Easter period.
• The President advised that OSG had been contracted as agreed for weekends and Bank Holidays with the major improvement of the weather as was the case last year. The Committee instructed that seeing that the school summer period had been changed by Government, we should also review our Summer season and advise OSG to do full patrols as from 1st June 2026. This would terminate when schools returned full time in September 26.
5. Budget
• The President advised the Committee that the budget was being updated and we would have a working paper by the next meeting. The President stressed that the Yard was not performing as per the budget, but this was primarily due to the bd weather experienced this year in Jan, Feb and parts of March.
6. Arrears
• The President advised the Committee that some 80 members plus some 11 which had not paid the full amount, were in arrears and advised the Committee that these would now be treated as arrears and as was the case last year, would be deprived on their membership rights primarily access to the Marina. The Committee agreed and further advised the President/Treasurer to start the process of revocation of berths as clearly spelt out in the Constitution. The President advised the Committee that the Port and advised last year how this had to be done, and this would be done by the letter of the law and therefore not give the CoP the ability to sidestep the issue.
7. Tender Engine
• The Vice President advised the Committee that tender had now had its engine fitted and was now available for marina duties. It was also available for towing which the members could access at a charge.
8. Yard Wintering.
• The Vice President advised the Committee that the Wintering season had finished and gave the members an explanation of the various issues that he had found given the learning curve in this its first year. Certain changes were required in the operation and these were being put in place. It was felt that no boats should be winterised outside the Nissen Hut. It was also noted that only members boats should be winterised and only in special circumstances, mainly not enough member’s boats, should others be allowed to winter. The Vice President also wanted the Committee to agree to certain changes mainly: 1. To maintain the two payment system for members but apply immediate payment of the whole amount to other boats. Other boats were to pay all the other costs e.g. hauling boat by crane. 2. All boats should be out of the Nissen Hut at the latest two weeks from end of the Winterised period of 30th April. Therein they would pay £50 per day. New contracts would be prepared to account for this. Whilst on the subject of the Yard, the Vice President also proposed that the Hard Standing fees should be amended to include a charge of £50 per day after the 60th day. This was due to some members leaving their boats on the hard standing more than should be the case and he wanted to dissuade members from doing this. All these measures would be put in place as from 1st July 2026 to give existing boats sufficient notice. The Vice President stressed that the Operational Committee had the powers to waive this in bons fide cases.
The question of Summer storage was also raised and it was proposed to use the Nisien Hut for storage of boats and other stuff which would have to be approved by the Pier Master/Vice President from for 5 months until end of end of September at the same rate and conditions as Winter Storage The idea was to utilise the Nissen Hut during the Summer but to have it cleared for the start of the Winter season on 1st November annually.
A discussion ensued with all members voting in favour of the different issues and advising the Vice President to implement as agreed.
9. Water Leakages
• The President advised the Committee that he had had meetings with GJBS who was the contracting entity that had laid the pipes and who had sent the pipes for testing. GJBS are now waiting for the final report and will present this to their board in June of this year. GJBS agreed that in the interim, they would repair at their cost any new leakages. The Committee felt that water was a very important facility within our Marina and urged that the system should be reviewed with a view of reassessing totally. The President state that at the same tome GJBS were doing a costing exercise to determine what would be the cost of laying the pipes externally within the Marina which was everybody’s preferred system. Once the costings were finished, they would be brought to the Committee for discussion. The Committee felt that this cost could not be passed to the Association.
10. Contractors Review
• The President advised that this would be an ongoing agenda matter but there were no contracts to be reviewed this month.
THERE BEING NO OTHER BUSINESS. THE MEETING CLOSED AT 18.30 hrs.
