COMMITTEE UPDATE – 10/07/2024

Dear Members,
I would like to start off by apologising for the delay in repairing the wood flooring at the entrance to Gate 6 which apparently had been like this as from Monday. This was dangerous and should have been dealt with immediately. I assure you that once the new system starts and we have dedicated staff working on the marina, this will not happen.
Notwithstanding, there is also an onus of responsibility on all members to report these problems/damage to the Office/Security guard or even to put it on the dedicated Whats-up group which is monitored by the Committee.
In relation to other comments made this morning, the Marina Common areas are not the place to organise storage solutions for your boats. No item/s that belong to the Berth holder and therefore private, can be on the pontoon but can only be kept on the boat. The committee will monitor this and issue the necessary letters to those members who do not abide by the rules.
As advised at the AGM, a fishing Cleaning station is prohibited by the Constitution and therefore a non-starter. The Constitution would require between 70 to 100% of the membership to be able to recommend changes to the Captain of the Port (the authority). Chairs and Umbrellas in pontoons, which are meant as a thoroughfare, does disturb many members who advise us of this all the time.
I agree with Mr. Rocca that the Marina should be a place to be enjoyed by everyone but would like to remind him that this is not a Swimming Pavilion (like Montagu) or a Fishing vessels marina. It is a leisure boat marina and we need to live with each other.
Finally, I assure you all that this committee although made up of volunteers, take their responsibilities seriously and will dedicate whatever time is required. This committee was elected in March 2024 and you are already seeing the results of our proactivity mainly in the Yard but also in changing the way the marina is run, the benefits of which will be seen shortly when we decide on the new Contract structure and employ directly a Pier Master.
THE PRESIDENT
