COMMITTEE UPDATE – 22/07/2024

after

Dear Members

We would like to explain that this Committee takes its responsibilities seriously and will therefore follow up members complaints in relation to the breaking of the rules. Let us stress that we do not implement “stupid rules” but rather the rules which are part of the Constitution and therefore the law and the rules which we all signed up to when we became members of the Association.

At present the Committee is following up complaints of:

1.            Children fishing in the pontoons and disturbing trying to swim behind their boats

2.            Children jumping from Pontoons and running wild in the Marina

3.            Members who store stuff behind their boats and not inside them

4.            Members not keeping within the confines of the back/front of their boat and who use the marina as a swimming pavilion with inflatables, canoes etc

5.            Members who use the Pontoons as the beach, with Tables, Chairs and Umbrellas on the public access i.e. pontoons.

All members when approached claim “esto no molesta a nadie” but rules are meant to be respected or else the marina would be chaos. Just imagine if we all (the 700 of us) decided to put stuff behind our boats or put Tables/chairs/umbrellas. THIS WOULD REALLY BE CHAOS so the Committee cannot accept that any member creates a precedent that others can then follow.

As probably already identified by those breaking the rules, the Committee is sending advisory E-mails to ensure that people keep within the rules.

One member suggested kicking out this committee but failed to understand that it is the statutory obligation of any committee to implement the Law.

Our president is actively pursuing with Government authorities the issue of empty berths, small boats in big berths and vice versa, sinking or sunken boats and many other issues that have been neglected over past years. We want to get that Waiting list moving and give a way out for many members that are stuck with a boat that they do not want. It is not an easy exercise that can be done overnight but discussions are happening now.

We will shortly have news for you on the Yard with the last problem, the shifting block, being looked at today with a view of sorting it shortly.

We will keep you updated on this but as previously mentioned, we are still aiming for early September and will be issuing a Questionnaire shortly.

Dear Members….As advised, we  have sent you the QUESTIONNAIRE by E-mail in order to gain information as on the usage that the Yard is going to be made by the members. This information will help us to determine how the Yard will be managed initially to cater for all the required movements and give us an insight into the income that will be received so that we can gauge the pricing. We ask that members who are interested in using the yard to fill in the QUESTIONNAIRE and provide the info therein shown as soon as possible. THANKS FOR YOUR CO-OPERATION

THE COMMITTEE
