COMMITTEE UPDATES – 06/08/2025

STATEMENT BY MHSBM COMMITTEE
Following certain discussions over the weekend with reference to the Empty Berth situation in the Marina and the fact that the Port, given instructions from the Government, is not allocating these empty berths, the Committee would like to make the following statement.
*This Committee is committed to ensuring that all empty berths are allocated by the Government as soon as possible. It is also committed to help the many members who wish to move within the marina to empty berths within their allocated lengths, to do so. In NO WAY does this committee agree that berths should be sold and will only consider this, if proposals are put to it, which proposals will be studied and put to an EXTRAODINARY GENERAL MEETING. The members decision will be final although all members have to understand that the Marina belongs to the Government. This Committee will also ensure inasmuch as it can, that no part of the Marina is used for any other reason other than it was meant to be used, as a Marina and will use any of its powers, which flow from the strength of its members, to fight this.
THIS IS THE COMMITMENT OF ALL OF THE MEMBERS OF THIS COMMITTEE.
*Having said this, the Committee is also determined that the Constitution is upheld in all its aspects and will continue to write to those members who break it or abuse it. The eventual expulsion of any member in relation to this, has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with having more empty berths but rather a wish that having joined this club, members abide by its rules.
This committee wants all berths to be used by boat lovers and users either for fishing or leisure activities and is DETERMINED to end this situation with years of people holding on to berths whilst having no intention of ever using them thus depriving (like the Government is doing) of these berths being allocated to bona fide boat lovers. Having said this, we wany to help those people that genuinely want to sell their boats as they no longer use them.
We will do our upmost, with the help of all members who care for OUR MARINA, to ensure that existing members and future members are part of a Marina which comprises of boats used by its members.
WE ALL KNOW THAT THIS IS NOT THE CASE NOW!
THE COMMITTEE
On a personal note, I continue to ask members to ask any question that they may wish to ask of the Committee and they will get an honest answer. It continues to baffle me how members in the What’s App group can get carried away as they do, without any proper knowledge of the matter under discussion in many cases not even bothering to ask and find out. Their thoughts seem to be their TRUTH which they want to convince others of. Please ask whatever you wish to know and never assume that you know what the Committee is thinking and please be sure that none of us are here for gain.
We urge you to ask the Committee via its internal What’s app forum or by e-mailing info@mhsbm.gi any question you may wish. You can also pop in and see us any Wednesday between 1030 and 1.30 where a member of the Committee will be in attendance to help answer your queries or take it to the main Committee, if they cannot. The Committee welcomes member’s comments and suggestions as this helps to get more opinions.
The President
Members….we would like to advise you that we continue to monitor the Water situation and would like to inform you that yesterday we wrote to a member who was caught passing a hose up to a friend who the proceeded to wash his car. This was seen very seriously by the Committee and is being looked into by the Disciplinary Committee. We urge you to continue to use the water for what it is meant to be used (WASHING YOUR BOAT) although understand that within reason, it will be used for personal use. The Committee
