Dear Member….Yesterday we were asked whether there were any updates on the allocation of berths, exchanges or movements between small and larger berths. Please be advised that we have now established a forum (Marina Berths Sub Committee) wherein both the Association and the Port are identifying all issues which directly affect berths. We have also made representation to the Captain of the Port to ensure that there are no small boats in large berths or visa versa. We believe that 6.5 meters is the break off length. We have also proposed various formulas for the changing of berths but are awaiting meeting with CP to finalise this.                                                                                                                                                                    We are also awaiting a meeting with the Minister for the Port so that we are informed on the Government thinking on the way forward for the free/empty berths. At present the Association is short of the money that some 70 berths  would have produced. These are either free/empty and for which we have been unable to send an invoice for. We have sent the Port an Invoice for £16425 being the equivalent of 45 FREE berths and have another 25 berths minimum which are EMPTY and for which we have been unable to send an invoice. We will invoice these at the end of the exercise amounting to possibly another £9125 minimum. We also have 43 members that have not PAID and whom we are now tackling. Some of these will also have their berths removed. We have advised the Minister that we cannot continue with the situation where there is a moratorium on the issue of berths but yet we have to continue to service everything but with the lesser income of a minimum of 70 berths.                                                                                                                   We will continue to push for the allocation of every single berth and will keep you posted. The AGM advised the Committee to seek a decision by the Government and if this was not forthcoming, to raise the matter at the EGM so that members could take the necessary action.
