COMMITTEE UPDATES – 24/04/2025

after

Good Afternoon members,

The Committee and the Port have set up a working Committee which will be doing a survey to establish the present situation of the Marina. The first meeting was held on Tuesday 22nd April 2025 and the first working group met this morning and walked the Marina taking account of:

1.           Overall number of boats registered and in which berths

2.           Number of Empty Berths and whether there is a reason for it.

3.           Derelict Boats

4.           Large boats (6/6.5 meters) which are berthed in small berths

5.           Small Boats (6 meters and under) which are berthed in large berths

6.           Unregistered boats

A report is now being prepared which will identify all of the above and this will be taken back to the Committee for them to start taking decisions on this.

During this walk around, the Working group also noticed that there were a substantial amount of “Live Bait Wells” which were totally unkept and causing issues to the marine environment. It determined therefore that owners of these would be advised that these were either cleaned immediately or would be removed by the Marina maintenance staff.

NOTICE…….. Please be advised that all Canoes, dinghies or other inflatable or prohibited items (as determined by the membership at the AGM held on 27th March 2025)  on the Marina basin will be removed as from 30th April 2025. Please also note that all unkept “Live Bait Wells” will be removed from the marina basin as from the same date. We would like to advise all owners that following the Motion passed by the AGM, any cost incurred in manpower costs etc., would be recharged to the berth owner.

Dear Members….we are starting to have issues this year with children in the Marina as if the Marina was a “Montagu” type swimming pavilion. Please note that the Committee will take a very strict view of this and owners of berths (Members) are reminded that:

1.           Members are responsible for their boats and any guests that have been given permission to be on it

2.           Any guest breaking any Bye Law will have a repercussion on the Member

3.           Children under the age of 16 MUST be accompanied by the Member

4.           No person shall open the gates to any person (non-member or otherwise) and must ensure that their Cards are not used by any other person other than themselves or a person authorised by them to visit their boat

5.           Scooters and bicycles are not allowed on the Marina.

As advised previously, the marina is NOT a beach, NOT a swimming pavilion, NOT a discotheque, NOT a playground and NOT a fisherman’s yard. It is basically a parking for boats but which can be enjoyed by everybody within the confines of their boats.

Let’s follow the Rules (Bye Laws) and have let’s have an enjoyable Summer

THE COMMITTEE
